The Humane Society of Clarksville- Montgomery County originally
chartered nearly 30 years ago and underwent reorganization from 1997 to
1998. Charles Hand, a local businessman, rented to the Humane Society a
building for seven years from which we could conduct sheltering
operations. Sadly, the expense of caring for the rising number of
homeless animals in our community far exceeded our income, which forced
us to close our doors.
Without a building to maintain, we have been able to refocus our energy & resources on pro-active programs & services to better serve the animals & people in our community. Contrary to popular belief, the Humane Society is not "funded" by the city or county.

are limited to resources available to us at any given time... we depend
on YOU to enable us to continue serving the citizens and homeless
animals of
